SUMMARY:Statement Analysis: The Proof is in the Words
DESCRIPTION:Join CPHR Manitoba's Westman Chapter for this interactive session with Marc Robichaud\, Chief of Police for the Sainte-Anne Police Department. \n\nHuman Resource professionals are often faced with conflicting accounts of a situation. It is a challenge trying to figure out if someone is telling the truth. This workshop provides specific techniques and a process for investigating issues in the workplace to better determine what information is true and what is false.\n\nMaking judgments regarding the credibility or truthfulness of another person is a challenge for most individuals\, including professionals such as police officers and crime investigators. While we may trust our gut\, we also recognize the importance of needing proof to support intuition or observations. For professionals trained in Statement Analysis\, the proof is in the words.\n\n\n\nStatement Analysis is an established investigative tool used within law enforcement to detect deception in written or verbal statements. This workshop introduces participants into the world of investigative science and provides HR professionals with an overview of some of the tools and techniques used to train police investigators.\n\n\n\nThis workshop will be interactive\, with presentation\, discussion and a series of interactive exercises and a case study.\n\n\n\nIn this workshop\, participants will learn:\n\n\n	The essential elements of a Statement Analysis\n	Techniques for determining the truthfulness of a statement\n	Strategies for using a Statement Analysis to solve a wide variety of business related issues employees and management bring to their HR team\, such as: conflict resolution\, harassment\, grievances\, theft or other circumstances requiring resolution.\n\n\nThis program will provide participants with the opportunity to add to their toolkit specific techniques that will assist in typical or atypical situations where HR professionals are called upon to investigate and resolve issues. Typical areas where these techniques directly apply include:\n\n\n	Hiring for assessing the truthfulness of a candidate's statement\n	Harassment Claims\n	Issue Resolution\n	Labour Relations\n	Security Related Incidents
